Teal is a resume builder and job tracker that runs in your browser, with a generous free plan. It helps you write and match resumes, then you apply yourself. Hunter covers more of the hunt: it finds jobs on a schedule, scores them against your experience, writes a resume for each one, fills in and submits applications after your review, and preps you for interviews. Teal wins on resume design, its free plan and Mac support. Hunter wins if you want the job finding and applying handled too.

Facts about Teal come from its own website, checked October 29, 2026. Links are at the bottom.

Building resumes

Teal is a dedicated resume builder. It offers templates, a match score against the job description, keyword suggestions, an ATS resume checker and a cover letter writer. Its free plan includes unlimited resumes, with small allowances for AI-written bullets and summaries.

Hunter starts from an experience bank: your real jobs, results and skills, gathered from your resume, LinkedIn, notes or by talking. For each job, it writes a resume only from that bank and highlights every line it reworded. You can then edit it in Word. See Build your experience bank.

Applying

This is the biggest difference. Teal’s own comparison page says it “does not fill in or submit applications.” You export your resume and apply on the employer’s site yourself.

Hunter fills in the application on the company’s own site, then holds it in the Review queue. It starts in practice mode, so nothing is submitted until you approve it or choose to let Hunter send strong matches on its own, up to a daily limit you set.

Interviews

Both help you practice. Teal’s AI interview practice records video and gives feedback on your pace and answers, with unlimited sessions on Teal+. Hunter offers mock interviews in 8 interviewer styles, from recruiter screen to case interview, typed or spoken, with a scorecard at the end. Strong answers can be saved back to your experience bank. Hunter also builds a prep sheet for each real interview.

Price

Teal’s free plan includes unlimited resumes and job tracking. Teal+ costs $13 every 7 days, $29 every 30 days or $79 every 90 days, and Teal says no credit card is needed to start.

Hunter is free during early access and uses your own Claude or ChatGPT account for AI work.
