What’s inside
- The basics: company, role, time, interviewers and the link.
- “Tell me about yourself” in three boxes: present, past and future. See How to answer “Tell me about yourself”.
- Why this company, why me, and the gap you’ll be asked about.
- Four STAR stories: situation and task, what you did, and the result.
- Questions you expect, matched to the story you’ll use.
- Questions to ask them, with three good ones to start.
- After the interview: what went well, what to improve, and the thank-you note.
How to use it
- Read the job post twice and fill in the basics.
- Write your three-part pitch. Keep it under 90 seconds.
- Pick four stories with real results, ideally with numbers.
- Match likely questions to stories.
- Say everything out loud, at least twice. Reading isn’t the same as saying it.

Questions people ask
When should I fill it in?
A day or two before the interview. That leaves time to practice your answers out loud, which matters more than the writing.
Can I bring it to the interview?
For video interviews, a page beside your screen is common. In person, a short list of your questions to ask is fine. Your stories should be in your head by then.
How many stories do I need?
Four good ones usually cover most behavioral questions. One story can answer several questions with a different focus.
