Fetch records your meetings without a bot and transcribes them on your own Windows PC. Fathom is a popular cloud notetaker with a generous free plan, video clips and team features. On a Mac, Fathom can record without a bot. On Windows, its help center says bot-free recording is still in a limited alpha for Microsoft Teams, so the Fathom bot usually joins your call. If you’re on Windows and don’t want a bot, Fetch fits. If you want video clips and team sharing, Fathom fits.

Facts about Fathom come from its own website and help center, checked October 29, 2026. Links are at the bottom.

The bot on Windows

Fathom 3.0’s bot-free experience is built for Mac and needs macOS 14.2 or later. Its help center says Windows bot-free recording is “currently in a limited Microsoft Teams alpha” (as of October 20, 2026), and its What’s New page lists Windows as coming soon. Until then, on Windows, Fathom’s recorder joins your call as a participant.

Fetch always records from your own PC, with no extra guest, on Zoom, Google Meet, Teams or in person.

Where does your meeting go?

Fetch transcribes on your own processor or graphics card, and saves the audio and notes in your Documents folder. Nothing is uploaded unless you turn on Google Drive backup or choose the one optional online speech model.

Fathom is a cloud service that stores data in the US. Its help center says it’s HIPAA, SOC 2 Type II and GDPR compliant, that its AI providers aren’t permitted to train on your data, and that Fathom uses de-identified customer data to improve its own models unless you opt out in your settings. Fathom also says you need an internet connection to capture.
