1099s and the year-end ZIP
How Kibble tracks 1099-NEC forms you should receive and send, the $2,000 threshold from 2026, and the year-end ZIP for your accountant.
Kibble’s Taxes screen tracks 1099-NEC forms both ways: clients who paid you enough that they should send you one, and people you paid enough that you should send them one, by January 31. It uses the $2,000 threshold that applies from 2026. At year end, click once for a year-end ZIP with everything your accountant needs.
Which 1099s should I expect?
The Clients who should send you a 1099-NEC list shows each client who paid you $2,000 or more this year. When their form arrives, click to enter the amount in box 1. Kibble compares it with what you recorded, so you’ll catch any mismatch before your accountant does.
Which 1099s should I send?
The People you paid list shows contractors paid $2,000 or more, based on expenses on the Contract labor line. Send each a 1099-NEC by January 31. Click when you have their W-9, so you know you have what you need to file.
From November to January, Needs you on the Dashboard reminds you who to expect forms from and who to send them to.
What’s in the year-end ZIP?
One file with:
- The Schedule C summary and profit and loss
- Every business transaction
- The mileage log
- Quarterly tax payments you recorded
- 1099s both ways
- The year’s invoices as PDFs
- Receipts: files you attached, and the text of receipt emails
Click the year-end ZIP button on Taxes, save it, and send it to your accountant. That’s a shoebox of paper replaced by one tidy file. Somewhere, an accountant just smiled.
How do I make sure it’s complete?
- Add receipts to expenses as you go. Business receipts from email are kept with them automatically.
- Import bank and card statements so nothing is missing (see Import bank and card statements).
- Record quarterly payments with Mark paid (see Quarterly tax estimates).
Kibble doesn’t file anything. It keeps you organized so filing is quick.
