What is Easy Apply?

LinkedIn's quick application, which sends your profile and resume to a job without leaving LinkedIn.

Updated Nov 1, 2026By Bruce W.

Easy Apply is LinkedIn’s built-in application. Instead of going to the company’s careers page, you send your LinkedIn profile, a resume and a few answers in a short form. Indeed has a similar button called Indeed Apply.

The good

  • Fast: often under a minute.
  • Saved answers: your contact details and resume are filled in.

The not-so-good

  • Crowded: low effort for you means low effort for everyone, so popular jobs get hundreds of applications.
  • One resume for all: it’s tempting to skip tailoring.
  • Second-hand: some companies pull Easy Apply applicants into their own system later, or not at all.

Easy Apply vs the company’s own site

  • Speed: Easy Apply wins.
  • Room to stand out: company sites often have space for a cover letter and more detail.
  • Where it lands: applying on the company’s site puts you straight into its applicant tracking system, where recruiters do most of their searching.
  • Updates: Easy Apply status updates can be vague. Company sites usually email you from their own system.

How to make Easy Apply count

  • Apply early. The first few days get the most attention.
  • Upload a tailored resume for each job instead of your default one.
  • Answer the screening questions carefully. They often decide who gets seen.
  • Follow up. A short note to the recruiter or hiring manager can lift you out of the pile.
  • Keep your profile current. With Easy Apply, your profile is part of the application.

In Hunter

Hunter tries the company’s own career site first. When a job is only on LinkedIn, it can apply through Easy Apply in its own browser window, where you sign in yourself. Hunter never sees your LinkedIn password, and practice mode never presses Submit for you. See Can Hunter apply to LinkedIn Easy Apply jobs?

Questions people ask

Is Easy Apply worse than applying on the company's site?

Not worse, but crowded. Many people apply that way, and some recruiters look at their own hiring system first.

Do recruiters see my LinkedIn profile when I use Easy Apply?

Generally, yes. Your profile goes along with the application, so make sure your headline, recent roles and dates match your resume.
